What to Expect on Sunday Morning Profile: A wide range of people attend LBC, from young children to seniors, and from many backgrounds. We are currently a small congregation with about 50-60 people attending on a regular Sunday. Dress: Most people dress up a little; some come dressed more casually and others wear their Sunday best. However you appear, you can also expect a warm welcome. Sunday School: Classes are available for people of all ages. After a short opening session, students head off for their classes. The adults are currently separated into two classes: couples and singles. The Sunday school hour lasts from 9:30 to 10:15 am. Music: The music we use at LBC is conservative and traditional. We appreciate the rich traditional hymnody from the past and also incorporate some newer works into our services. We typically use a chorus book on Wednesday nights with guitar accompaniment. We often enjoy the musical ministry of soloists, small groups, and ensembles. Worship Service: Our morning worship service begins at 10:30 am. During this time, we sing several songs, offer prayers of praise and supplication to God, hear Scripture read, give our offerings and tithes, and listen to the pastor preach a message from the Bible. We seek to make our times of worship reverent and fitting to the purpose of the meeting. We observe the Lord's Supper (communion) on the first Sunday of the month. Sermons: Preaching for the morning service is usually expositional in nature, meaning that it seeks to declare the point of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last about thirty minutes. We are typically working through a book of the Bible during the morning worship service and alternate between the Old Testament and the New Testament. After the Sermon: While some people leave soon after the service, many stay around to fellowship and chat. Occasionally we'll enjoy a fellowship meal after the morning service. We usually do so on the 5th Sunday of the month.
What to Expect on Sunday Afternoons/Evenings The Sunday afternoon service starts at 1:30 and is typically composed of a few hymns, announcements, a Bible lesson, and prayer. This service lasts about an hour.
What to Expect on Wednesday Nights Our midweek service begins at 6:30 pm. We typically sing a few choruses, do a short Bible lesson, and then spend some time in prayer.
No matter when you visit, you'll receive a warm welcome at LBC! Hope to see you soon |
